Product Description

Kibbutz Kissufim is located in the northwestern Negev in southern Israel, close to the Gaza Strip. The kibbutz is currently evacuated.

On October 7, 2023, as part of a surprise attack by Hamas on settlements surrounding Gaza, dozens of Palestinian terrorists from the military wing of Hamas infiltrated Kibbutz Kissufim, and carried out a massacre there (Kissufim Massacre). Eleven kibbutz members and 6 foreign workers from Thailand were murdered, and one kibbutz member was kidnapped to the Gaza Strip.

Kibbutz Kissufim Hostage - Shlomo Mantzur
Shlomo Mansour was kidnapped from his home in Kibbutz Kissufim and is being held hostage by Hamas in Gaza.

With the outbreak of the war, the members of the kibbutz vacated and took up residence in a hotel on the Dead Sea. After a discussion they decided that they would temporarily move to live in Omer near Be’er Sheva, which is relatively close to the kibbutz. The residents conveyed a clear message: “We want to return to Kibbutz Kissufim and re-establish it.”

The kibbutz’s economy relies largely on milk production, poultry farming, avocado plantations and land leasing to the army.

The creator of the Israeli kibbutz cult film “Operation Grandma” (Mivtza Savta), Dror Shaul, is a member of Kibbutz Kissufim and many details in the plot of the film originate from his life on the kibbutz.

On the kibbutz there is a small museum you can visit.
