The Mishkan Museum of Art on Kibbutz Ein Harod is the leading and oldest museum in the north, featuring art exhibitions of the best artists in Israel and around the world. The museum has one of the largest collections of Jewish artists from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, alongside an extensive collection of Israeli art and Judaica objects from all Diaspora.
The museum’s structure is a spectacular modernist architectural piece, based entirely on natural lighting. There are 14 exhibition halls, hidden and magical inner courtyards and a special magnetizing atmosphere, serving as an inspiration to world-renowned architects.
In the midst of the building process of the Mishkan, occurred the split and kibbutz Ein Harod was divided into two kibbutzim: Ein Harod Meuhad and Ein Harod Ihud. An unusual decision was made to keep the museum as a joint institution of the two kibbutzim, indicating the special attitude of the kibbutz members to the Mishkan.
The museum is open to the general public and has guided tours on history, exhibitions and architecture.
