Kibbutz Or Haner is located in the south of Israel near the city of Sderot. The kibbutz is currently evacuated.
The meaning of the name Or Haner is Candlelight. Many of its founders came from Argentina. During the Soccer World Cup, the media always enjoys highlighting the colorful rivalry with Bror Hayil, the neighboring “Brazilian” kibbutz with many of the founders coming from Brazil.
At Kibbutz Or Haner you will find the Patagonia Argentine Asado meat restaurant, a dining hall that’s open to the public and wine tasting at Papo’s art gallery and home vineyard, overlooking a picturesque landscape.
In general, Kibbutz Or Haner is a picturesque kibbutz and not just because of the landscape. The kibbutz is adorned with unique murals that have become an artistic and tourist attraction called the “Mural Path”. The paintings, which were drawn on the walls of main buildings and the “Avenue of the Seven Species” that glorifies the road leading to the kibbutz, were made by two artists from the city of Corrientes in Argentina who arrived in 2007 and 2008 at the invitation of the kibbutz members.
Along with taste and spirit, most of the kibbutz economy is based on agricultural industries and the Ornit factory that produces rivets for industry.
