Kibbutz Mitzpe Shalem (the Shalem Lookout) is located in the heart of a global natural wonder. Below it are the shores of the Dead Sea, in the east are the Moab Mountains and it is surrounded by the breathtaking “Heetekim” cliff between the Dragot canyon and the Hatzatzon canyon.
Over the years, the kibbutz has leveraged the landscape and nature in its unique environment by establishing projects that have resonated both nationally and globally. The world-renowned “Ahava” cosmetics factory based on Dead Sea minerals is located on the kibbutz. The Kibbutz operated the “Mineral Beach” for many years until it was “swallowed” by a sinkhole in 2015. The kibbutz has advanced agriculture that includes a date grove and chicken coops, and a pre-military preparatory school called “Salt of the Land.”
The kibbutz’s tourism industry includes the Metzoke Dragot TRavellers Village where there are accommodation options in guest rooms and a camping complex. There is a coffee bar called Metzoke Bar – which serves food, drinks and intoxicating views.
The kibbutz also encourages private initiatives, such as a cruise on the Dead Sea with Salty Landscapes, Dead Sea Kayak Tours and Noa’le Home Catering and Hospitality.
