Kibbutz Mishmar Hanegev is located in the northern Negev and was founded in 1946. In the beginning, the kibbutz was named “Bir Mansour” after a nearby well that belonged to a Bedouin named Abu Mansour. He was so unhappy that his name was immortalized in the Zionist enterprise that Abu Mansour fled the area during the War of Independence.
The well was abandoned and later the name was abandoned and changed to the Kibbutz Mishmar Hanegev as a sign of the kibbutz’s location at the northern end of the Negev.
The kibbutz focuses on field crops, industry, electronics, events (one of the largest event halls in the south).
