Kibbutz Kfar Glikson, perched on a pastoral hill on the eastern edge of the Nadiv Valley in the Pardes Hanna Karkur area, is a kibbutz surrounded by a natural forest and a Tuscan-Israeli landscape immersed in color. Colored pencils. Colored chalks. Colored markers. Pastels… Thanks to the long-standing kibbutz factory “Omega” that produces art materials. Omega is the only factory today that produces art materials in Israel. It started in 1950 as a chalkboard factory with the main purpose of providing employment for veteran kibbutz members. Today the factory provides employment for both adults and children. The children, by the way, are the factory’s happy “guinea pigs” for new products and the best test group such an operation could wish for.

Visit Kibbutz Kfar Glikson

Kibbutz Kfar Glikson was established as a Tower and Stockade kibbutz in 1939 and was named after Moshe Glikson, who was the editor of the Haaretz newspaper and one of the leaders of “The Zionist Worker” organization (Ha-Oved Ha-Tzioni). During the War of Independence, the Iraqi army had reached nearby Kafr Qara and the kibbutz served as a front position. The members of the kibbutz, together with “Palmach” fighters, occupied outposts around Kafr Qara and thus expanded and extended the border established after the War of Independence.

In recent years, many families have been joined Kibbutz Kfar Glikson forming a vibrant community. In the field of art, there are a number of studios and galleries on the kibbutz, some of which you can visit and meet the artists. Naama Brosh designs fashion jewelry and gift boxes and the artist and jeweler Adi Wener creates jewelry and handicrafts. Hadas Provizor runs a ceramics studio, workshops and sells useful ceramic items, and Shila Oringer has an art studio. The kibbutz also has a blacksmith workshop where you can learn various blacksmithing techniques.
