Kibbutz Kfar Aza is located about 2 kilometers from the Gaza strip. The kibbutz is currently evacuated.
On October 7, 2023, terrorists from the terrorist organization Hamas infiltrated the kibbutz as part of a surprise attack on Israel, massacred over 70 people, including babies, children and the elderly, and 18 were kidnapped to the Gaza Strip (Kfar Aza Massacre). After the arrival of the IDF forces to the kibbutz, a battle took place that lasted over three days until the kibbutz was cleared of terrorists, during which IDF soldiers were killed.

Most of the residents of Kibbutz Kfar Aza were evacuated to Kibbutz Shefayim, where they reside until they can return to their Kibbutz.
