Kibbutz Gaash is located in the center of the country on the coastal plain north of Tel Aviv. The name of the kibbutz doesn’t originate from the Bible nor from commemoration, history or nature. The name Gaash which means “eruption” stems from the warm and tumultuous and “erupting” temperament of the Latin Americans who founded the kibbutz with origins from Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Cuba, Uruguay and Chile.
In Kibbutz Gaash, not only is it hot and “erupting” on the ground, but also in the depths of the earth. In the 1950s, oil drilling was carried out and again in the 1980s. Although a black jet did not erupt from the ground, natural water enriched with minerals did bubble up. In the late 1990s, the kibbutz opened thermal-mineral pools and a spa.
In addition to the baths, the amazing beach in Gaash, the Hof Hasharon National Park and the Gaash Reserve (all 10 minutes from Tel Aviv) – the kibbutz also has an educational nature reserve. The “ADAM” Environmental Elementary School is inspired by the Montessori method and operates in the spirit of progressive education. Learning takes place in three-age classes with two educators per class and an emphasis on environmental and ecology studies.
