The Jordan Valley Center, located on Kibbutz Kfar Ruppin in the heart of the beautiful Beit Shean Valley is a world-renowned birding site. Along with the abundance of birds the area attracts, the Center also provides authentic, affordable kibbutz-style accommodation in a lodge that’s geared for birders and wildlife enthusiasts. Recently renovated, the lodge provides well-equipped rooms, indoor and outdoor communal areas, a dining hall, lecture theater and more.
The International Birdwatching Center also runs research projects, eco-tourism activities, educational programs for children and farmers, and a ringing station. You’ll find close up views of numerous species within a short distance from the Lodge. Easy to spot are the waterfowl, waders, herons, storks, gulls and terns. Stay awhile, and birders can catch viewings of pygmy cormorant, great black-headed gull, citrine wagtail, velvet scoter, demoiselle crane, Pacific golden plover and Isabelline shrike, to name a few.
There are also nearby hiking trails and Israeli historical monuments.
The Center provides tours with local guides, breakfast to go and all the information needed for you to enjoy your stay.
