The Eilon Apiary, was founded in 1937 when the kibbutz was still in its training stage in Petah Tikva. In 1938 the kibbutz moved to the north of Israel as a Stockade and and Tower settlement
For most of the apiary’s years, it was run by the mythological beekeeper Shmuel Nir, and after his retirement, he was replaced by Ilan Greenberg, a member of the kibbutz.
The apiary is located in the original building inside Kibbutz Eilon, and provides pollination services for orchards, and excellent honey from its products. You can come and taste the honey, including the special avocado flower and the wild flower honey. Depending on the season and schedule of the apiary, one can see different and lesser known aspects of beekeeping and honey production, hear about the apiary and its history, and experience nostalgia that takes place in the present.
