Kibbutz Ramat HaKovesh (which means “Conquerors Heights”), was established to “conquer” Jewish/Hebrew manual labor from the Arabs. The kibbutz is located in the center of the country south of the arab village Tira and a few minutes’ drive from Kfar Saba.

In its earlier days, Kibbutz Ramat HaKovesh was an isolated kibbutz that suffered many repeated attacks. During the Arab revolt in Palestine 1936-1939, the kibbutz members  stood firm for 18 months in the difficult battles fought in the Sharon, sacrificing its sons and defending the area so strategically important for the future State of Israel.

Visit Kibbutz Ramat HaKovesh

On the paths of the kibbutz there are many buildings and sites from the history of Ramat HaKovesh that are signposted, as well as a heritage site and museum exhibiting the history of the kibbutz.

The kibbutz certainly succeeded in its mission to “conquer” Jewish/Hebrew labor and its steadfastness in the economic field in a variety of industries also made it among the few kibbutzim that did not suffer from the big kibbutz debt crisis during the 1980s.

There are quite a few artists and studios on the kibbutz and alongside the historical tour, you can visit jeweler Batya Solomon’s studio, and perhaps most surprising, visit a magnificent wooden palace created by kibbutz Member Muly Schlopper.
