Kibbutz Nir Eliyahu – “A name that sends a shiver through me, reminds me of who I was, what I dreamed of being”… This is what Ehud Banai, the famous Israeli singer and songwriter, wrote about where he resided as part of a youth movement during the 1970s.
The kibbutz, which is located in the center of the country near Kfar Saba and apparently preserves the appearance of the kibbutz “of yesteryear”, has attracted many artists over the years and Israeli films such as “Children of Stalin”, “Across the Sea” (with Yair Lapid and Millie Avital), “Crazy Land” , “Lemon Tree” and more (a total of 9 Ophir Awards – a beautiful harvest for the kibbutz lands). The kibbutz also changed its name to “Maayan Haim” for the purpose of filming the successful series “The Kibbutzniks”.
Normally, Nir Eliyahu’s petting zoo is open to the public once a week. Make sure to contact them in advance to make sure they are open.
