Kibbutz Tel Yitzhak is located on the coastal plain southeast of Netanya in the center of the country. The kibbutz is named after Yitzhak Steiger, one of the founders of the Zionist Youth Movement in Poland. “In whose name?!” the government naming committee asked in amazement and refused to approve the name sometime during late 1938. “What 34-year-old guy, with all due respect, has already done enough to justify a kibbutz named in his honor?” But the founders of the kibbutz did not give up, and returned again and again to the naming committee.

Today, in addition to Kibbutz Tel Yitzhak, there is also the Tel Yitzhak Nature Reserve, Tel Yitzhak Hill Reserve South, the excellent Tel Yitzhak Kitchen & Garden restaurant… and thus, those founders who dreamed of commemorating the name of the young man who was a leader and role model for them, were the last to laugh.
